Terri Schiavo: STFU already!

For those of you who are unenlightened, allow me:
Terri Schiavo is a brain-dead Florida woman who has been declared by qualified neurologists as nothing other than being in a permanent vegetative state. Years ago she lost oxygen to her brain for such a long time that more than half of it was literally liquefied. She's officially brain-dead today and any reactions we see are purely reflexive and from the brain stem.

She's been this way for 15 years and had to be given nutrition and hydration via a feeding tube which was removed last Friday, March 18. Under Florida law, a feeding tube is an artificial means of life support. Her husband Michael claims that she said she never wanted to be kept alive artificially and says he's looking out for her best interests by removing the feeding tube.

Her parents don't want the feeding tube removed and defend to the death the "there could still be a miracle" side of things. They claim that Michael just wants her out of the way because he has a live-in girlfriend and several children by her.

The case was taken to the Florida Supreme Court, and when they said that the feeding tube would be removed, to the national Supreme Court, who refused to hear the case. Every court-appointed neurologist has pronounced her permanently vegetative.

The feeding tube won't be reinserted and she has less than a week left to live by doctors' estimates. People who visit her say she's fading fast.

Now then.

I see her as just a pawn in people's little civil rights games. So many things hinge on this issue. It's a rushed decision because she's dying--just like Roe v. Wade was rushed because she was pregnant. This could lead to things like legalized euthanasia etc. all because the Schiavo case was rushed.

All the same, GET IT THE HELL OFF MY TELEVISION! I'm sick of wading through thousands of Schiavo articles to read about things that actually affect me or that I give a shit about! It's not a fucking national case; the ruling has been made, YOU AREN'T GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING, STFU!

I hate people who blow things way out of proportion.

Intelligent Design: taught in schools?

First, we have to define what "intelligent design" as a theory is:

What is Intelligent Design?

In this context, ID should be taught in schools as a scientific theory, not as a religion, because it doesn’t fit the definition of “religion”:

re·li·gion (r-ljn)
n.

    1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
    2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
  1. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
  2. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
  3. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

The key words in 1a being “and governor.” The ID theory simply says that some things in the universe are too complex to have occurred by chance and that “intelligent causes” are required to explain the complexity of life. “Belief in” and “reverence” are also different things. I can believe in something and still hold it in the lowest regard possible. The other definitions simply don’t fit the theory.

The argument that it’s a monotheistic view is false. ID could just as easily be a polytheistic view (use of the word “intelligent causes” is flexible; could mean more than one designer) or even an atheistic view (something created the universe but isn’t around anymore). The key word here is “theistic”: this implies religion, something that we can’t have in public schools.

Or at least, we can’t simply have one religion in public schools. If we respect one, we have to respect them all. The definition of “religion” that we used to fit ID means that ALL religions have some sort of a higher power involved. Even teachings of a spiritual leader come from somewhere. Somewhere along the line, a deity, higher power, a supernatural SOMETHING comes into play. If we use the same definition of religion, intelligent design respects every religion in practice in America and thus is completely Constitutional.

More to come.

People I CAN'T FUCKING STAND

First on my list are hardcore Christians who constantly tell people they're going to hell. Beam out of your own eye, cockbag. What's this message of "Christian love" you're preaching? Are you preaching that by telling us that God hates us because we're sinners? Fuck you! Take your fundamentalist doctrine and shove it, pal, because nobody that matters gives a fuck. Jesus loves you, but I think you're a cunt.

Attention whores. Anyone who's depressed because it's trendy. Wake the fuck up, dumbass, nobody thinks you're cool because you write "I want it to stop..." in your Xanga and get "AWWWWW SWEETIE DUN WORRI U CAN ALWAYZ CRY ON MY SHOLDER LOLZ" comments from your lame-ass friends along with fucking stupid "eProps"... what the fuck are eProps anyway... retarded, that's what. No, there's no pain in your life. Having to take out the trash, wash the dishes, and clean your room does not count as "pain and suffering" no matter how much you want it to.

Script kiddies SUCK. JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN USE A FUCKING AIM PUNTER DOESN'T MAKE YOU L33T, SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY! You're not a hacker because you can talk in "1337 5p34k" either. Saying "411 j00r b0x0rz r b10ng 2 m3!!!!!!!! ololololololol" doesn't make you look good, it makes you look fucking retarded and makes me want to rip your fucking eyes out with a RUSTY SPORK. Until you can successfully take an IP and root whatever it redirects to, you're not "leet" and you probably never will be if you refer to yourself as such. Also, knowing BASIC does not make you leet either, shut up, I hate you.

I swear these people were put on earth for the sole purpose of pissing me the fuck off.

More words of wisdom...

What do I think? Good question.

Firstly, the culture expected of my age group is what I typically see from my age group. After school every Friday they go down to a pizzeria and catch up on all the latest gossip. Who's going out with who, who broke up with who, oh my God I SO totally cannot believe she wore THAT to the dance, etc.

There are a few of us, however, who find ourselves to be, frankly, ABOVE THIS GODDAMN BULLSHIT.

So we go to a coffee shop in town instead. We sit here, and we discuss, as is customary for a bunch of guys in trench coats in a coffee shop, the meaning of life.

We figured it out.

I know the ultimate answer, and it's not 42.

Communism is the ideal. Simply put, it's THE ultimate solution. Why can't it be put into practice? Why does it only work on paper? Why doesn't it work when we apply it?

Because people are greedy. Because everyone wants to one-up the guy next to him. Because we have egos.

If we could totally eliminate our egos, we would be able to achieve things we can only dream of now. We could work towards a common goal instead of everyone trying to come out on top.

This is the answer, guys. Those Zen monks had it all along... nothingness, the Void, eliminating the "second mind" standing over your stream of thought with a club.

But this will never happen, because nobody really wants it to.

And that's what I think about people.
